At a reception in the British Embassy in Dublin today, the British Ambassador to Ireland, Mr Dominick Chilcott, launched the Irish Chapter of the British and Irish Trading Alliance (BITA).
BITA was established in the UK in 2012 by Irishman Paul Whitnall who, together with an active group of business people working in the UK, help generate contacts, share knowledge and build relationships with each other. The Irish Chapter of BITA is chaired by Eugene Nelson of MCM Insurance Brokers, practising in Ireland and the UK. Other Irish Board Members include Colin Ahern, Diane Birch, Anne Carroll, Mary Coughlan and Justin McInerney.
Today's event was attended by representatives from British and Irish companies, industry groups and BITA Board members. The British and Irish Trading Alliance (BITA) is a non-profit organisation that encourages its members to build relationships and generate business through networking, educational and social events in both Ireland and the UK.
According to The British Ambassador to Ireland, Mr Dominick Chilcott, "British and Irish trade is growing strongly, reflecting the vigour of our economies. British SMEs often start exporting by selling their goods and services to Ireland, a close neighbour and an excellent proving ground. And the same is true for Irish companies in reverse.
Organisations like BITA can help companies that are new to exporting to find their way across the Irish Sea to reach new customers. I very much welcome the establishment of the Irish chapter of BITA and look forward to meeting and working with its members."
