U.S. Embassy Dublin announced it is leading the largest ever Irish delegation of more than 40 delegates to the 2019 SelectUSA Investment Summit, beginning yesterday and running through June 12, in Washington, D.C.
The Investment Summit is the highest-level investment promotion event in the United States, connecting international companies with U.S. economic development organizations to explore business investment opportunities.
Since 2017, past Irish Investment Summit participants have announced more than $1.2 billion in new investment projects, creating nearly 5,000 jobs across 12 U.S. states. Ireland is currently the 9th largest investor in the United States, with Irish companies employing over 100,000 people across all 50 U.S. states.
The delegation to the 2019 SelectUSA Summit showcases the diversity of Irish companies doing business in the United States. These firms include food and packaging companies to those developing technology to assist with mental health. The United States is the top destination for foreign direct investment in the world, with total stock at more than $4 trillion at the end of 2017.
"Investing in the United States is a great growth strategy for any company in Ireland," said Chargé d’Affaires Reece Smyth. "I am excited to see these companies find growth opportunities and contribute to the U.S.- Irish economic relationship."
