The Salon and Spa Industry in Ireland contributes €540 million annually to the Irish economy, according to research carried out by Phorest Salon Software.
Phorest provides software to over 3,000 salons in the UK, Ireland, Finland, Germany and USA. The company undertook research to highlight the true value of the industry and bring to the forefront how much Irish Salons and Spas contribute to the economy.
It is estimated that there are are about 4,000 salons and spas across Ireland, which is impressive when you compare it to the population of the country which is approx 4.7 million. These salons cater for a broad, spectrum of the Irish Population, more so than any other industry - from the very young to the elderly. The average age of an Irish salon client is 36.9 years old.
The research finds that €34.2 million is the approx value of vouchers bought in salons in 2016 and 600k is average number of bookings made in salons every month (7.2 million bookings annually).
Commenting on the research, CEO of Phorest Salon Software, Ronan Perceval said, "The salon and spa industry is one that often gets overlooked, its activities and its contributions to the economy do not gain as much media attention or coverage as its Industry counterparts."
