The Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation will convene tomorrow to discuss the issue of employment in the pub sector and the approaches used in the UK.

Committee Chair, Marcella Corcoran-Kennedy said, "The local pub is an important part of communities across Ireland and the Joint Committee welcomes this opportunity to discuss the challenges these pubs face.

At tomorrow’s meeting, the Joint Committee will hear from Mr Greg Mulholland MP, Chair of the Cross Party Group on the Pub. Mr Mulholland will outline his experience of the challenges facing local pubs in Britain.

Similarly, Mr Padraig Cribben, of the Vitners Federation of Ireland will inform the Committee of the Irish experience. We hope to receive an update on the views of Irish publicans regarding how best their businesses can be supported. The drinks sector is a vital contributor to the Irish economy and our Committee looks forward to a very productive meeting tomorrow."
