Since January of this year, Just Eat has seen a 41% increase in lunchtime orders, adding to the 44% increase in 2016 as customers continue to avail of the convenience of being able to dine at their desks, according to figures released today.
Furthermore, Just Eat has seen a huge surge in healthy options with a year-on-year increase of 100%. Gluten free options proved to be extremely popular also with an increase of 158% and demand for Mexican food increased by 123%, while BBQ experienced a huge upsurge of 400%. At the end of 2016, Just Eat revealed a massive in increase in orders for Asian cuisines Malaysian food orders up 3,000% and demand for Korean cuisine rising by 400%.
Restaurants such as Chopped, Wagamamas, Milano’s, Eddie Rockets and Gourmet Burger have recently been added to Just Eat.
The data released today also highlights trends in the nation's ordering habits with the busiest ordering period between 7 and 9pm while the most popular day of the week to order a takeaway is Sunday.
Speaking today, Just Eat Marketing Director, Edel Kinane said, "The data shows that consumers are continuing to Find their Flavour across a diverse range of foods, including healthier options and gluten free meals. While between 7 and 8pm remains the most popular time of the day to place an order, it is great to see the other moments throughout the day when order numbers peak, such as lunchtime. Looking ahead for the rest of year, we anticipate a further increase in demand for new flavours as consumers choose to eat more around their own schedule instead of scheduling traditional mealtimes."
