Hines and Peterson Group announced yesterday that Krispy Kreme will be the latest high-profile tenant to secure space at Central Plaza on Dame Street.

Krispy Kreme, the American doughnut brand that opened in Dublin in 2018, has signed contracts to lease one of the highest-profile F&B units in Central Plaza.

The new fully glazed shop is due to open early next year when the Central Plaza project is completed. Extending to 234m2 on the plaza with an additional 89m2 at sub plaza level, the unit will front onto both Dame Street and the popular pedestrian walkway linking Dame Street to Temple Bar.

Hines say Central Plaza situated midway between Grafton Street and Henry Street will be the perfect location to capture and enrapture shoppers, workers, peckish tourists from Temple Bar and students from nearby Trinity College.

Central Plaza is the visionary redevelopment by Hines and Peterson of the former Central Bank of Ireland complex on Dame Street College Green.  As the project nears completion, the public is also getting its first sight of the major changes and upgrades to the restored buildings.

The eight floors of office space in the development, which is already leased to WeWork and Amtrust Financial, will house approx. 1,300 office workers. In total there will be upward of 1,500 workers on-site across all uses.

Restoration of Central Plaza’s interior is almost complete and will feature a 6-meter-high entrance lobby and 15-metre wide glazed facade with double-height revolving doors, accessible via a grand staircase from the main plaza.

Speaking yesterday, Senior Managing Director of Hines, Brian Moran said, "We are delighted that such an iconic brand as Krispy Kreme has chosen an equally iconic location as Central Plaza for its new flagship city centre location. Krispy Kreme will bring an exciting and beloved retail experience to a whole new customer base and will be perfectly located in the heart of Dublin."

He added, "With the Central Plaza project now nearing completion, we’re looking forward to seeing Krispy Kreme serving up its iconic doughnuts to a very expectant customer audience here in the city centre very soon indeed."
