Hortonworks has today announced the opening of a new, larger premises in Albert Quay, Cork.
The news was celebrated at an opening ceremony hosted by the Lord Mayor of Cork City and IDA Ireland.
The inauguration comes just nine months after the company confirmed their plans to extend their Global team and create 50 jobs in Ireland.
Hortonworks is headquartered in Santa Clara, California and is driving the adoption of Apache Hadoop, an enterprise-grade software for storing, analysing and managing large amounts of data.
The move to new facilities in Cork reflects the continued popularity of Hadoop amongst the largest businesses throughout Europe.
At the opening of Hortonworks’ new office, Lord Mayor of Cork City, Des Cahill said, "Having an established company like Hortonworks here to stay is an excellent addition to Cork’s Technology Hub."
He added, "This move to a larger, permanent premises shows the progress the company has made since initially establishing here and reinforces its commitment to the region. I wish Hortonworks continued growth and success for the future."
