Golden Disc Group recorded turnover of €17.9 million for period-end December 2016, according to new figures released today. The group returned a profit of €172,878 for the period.
The company reports year to date performance in line with forecasts with strong album sales from Ed Sheeran, Imelda May and Harry Styles and films such as Star Wars and Moana and Fantastic Beasts.
Golden Discs reported significant growth in audio products with vinyl sales up over 100% on the previous year. Golden Disc Group Chief Executive, Stephen Fitzgerald says vinyl sales are at a 25 year high and are continuing to grow.
Golden Discs recently opened The Vinyl Lounge, a hybrid vinyl shop, cafe, exhibition space and music venue in their Cork flagship store on Patrick Street. The project has been well received and the company is looking for suitable space in Dublin to expand the concept.
Furthermore, the company opened a new store in Dundrum Town Centre and a pop-up store on Dublin’s Henry Street for the busy Christmas trading period.The company has also just opened a new store on Limericks Cruises Street bringing the total to 13 standalone stores nationwide. The company is considering additional store openings over the coming months.
Speaking today, Golden Disc Group Chief Executive, Stephen Fitzgerald commented, "The branch network is under continual appraisal; where we find opportunities we will open additional stores."
