Virgin Atlantic will tomorrow hold a special meeting with the Transport Committee to disscuss what impact the potential sale of the Government’s stake in Aer Lingus to IAG will have.
Director of Network and Alliances at Virgin Atlantic, Joe Thompson will be attending.
Chairman, John O’Mahony said, "The Committee welcomes the chance to hear from Mr Thompson at tomorrow's meeting. Mr Thompson has expressed publically Virgin Atlantic's concerns over the IAG bid for Aer Lingus, specifically in relation to connectivity issues, and has made it known that he wishes to engage with the Joint Committee on Transport and Communications.
Having discussed Mr Thompson's correspondence, the Committee has decided to invite him to appear in order to make his views known.
The potential sale of Aer Lingus has shown itself to be an issue of national importance and as such, the Committee will continue to do all it can to facilitate an open debate of the issues surrounding a sale. We expect that tomorrow’s meeting with Virgin Atlantic will be an informative and useful one and we look forward to a very productive meeting."
