Here at Business World, we publish a broad range of business news for our own site www.businessworld.ie as well as for select clients in the banking & financial sector. We also create blog posts, editorials and other articles for a broad range of clients.

This week on our website we covered a wide range of stories from both the World stage and from the domestic arena. One major news story that we covered was the the Central Bank of Ireland Annual Report.

Central Bank

Within the report’s subsequent press conference was the news that the public will be invited to make submissions on the Central Bank’s mortgage deposit rules ahead of their review later this year. The Central Bank said that the written submissions must provide “evidence-based analyses of the impact of the rules”.

So this opens up a can of worms in terms of news stories that will be generated across the domestic media scene; you can expect Business World to publish articles, content and blogs on the mortgage sector in the coming weeks.

Mortgage Review

In addition to the general public, institutional investors, property developers and private investors are among those will be able to have input into the mortgage deposit rules. So what can we expect?

• There is likely to be numerous voices / blogs / content / articles in the political / public arena that      support some additional relaxation in the Central Bank mortgage lending rules, in certain            circumstances, for example to allow first time buyers greater access to the market

• Individual and corporate investors are likely to request a relaxation in the market to support greater access to bank capital

• On the other side some stakeholders are likely to support the status quo that has seen stricter mortgage rules since Jan 2015
