Cybersecurity company, eSentire have today opened a European-based headquarters and Security Operations Center (SOC) in Cork.
At an event to mark the occasion of its opening, eSentire cemented its commitment to Cork by announcing CIT Department of Computing’s first bursary.
The bursary, named after a revered eSentire executive who passed away in 2014, will be awarded to a second year student starting in the 2015 school year.
eSentire currently has a sales office in London, UK to provide mid-sized enterprises with its award winning real-time monitoring and mitigation of cyber threats service, called Active Threat Protection (ATP).
eSentire has hired 11 employees to work in its Cork location and plans to reach 100 employees over the next five years. Ten Irish employees spent a month at eSentire’s headquarters in Canada this summer as part of their new hire training and orientation.
Speaking at the event Minister of State Sean Sherlock TD commented, "eSentire is a very welcome addition to the cybersecurity cluster of companies in Cork. Clustering likeminded industry together marks Cork as a world leader in these areas of expertise.
"I’m delighted to celebrate this milestone with the company and I offer my full support as eSentire builds its international presence here."
Head of the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), Michael Loftus added, "We are delighted to welcome eSentire to Cork and know they will be a significant addition to the cluster of major IT security enterprises based in the region.
"The eSentire sponsored bursary announced today will ensure our high calibre graduates continue to be produced and we thank eSentire for their generosity in making such a positive and strategic contribution to IT education in the region."
