It was announced this week that almost €2 million has been invested in the refurbishment at the Dalata Hotel Group’s Clayton Hotel Cork City on Lapps Quay in Cork.

The investment saw 100 bedrooms recently renovated and the introduction of the Red Bean Roaster Café.

Further significant changes are now underway at the hotel including the extensive upgrading of the Atrium area. The Atrium will be fully refurbished in the coming month and will see the introduction of snugs and other meeting-friendly changes.

The restaurant and bar area of the hotel will also see a major facelift and rebrand to Globe Restaurant and Bar, which will be a bistro-style eatery, serving steak and artisan dishes with an emphasis on produce sourced locally from the renowned food emporium, The English Market.

The Club Vitae Leisure Club is upgrading all cardiovascular equipment, with 32 new machines including the latest technology in treadmills, spinning bikes, upright cycle and recumbent cycle bikes, total body cross trainer and cross ramp.  As well as this extensive fit-out, the Club Vitae fitness instructors have also received the latest training on use of the advanced technology and equipment.

The Clayton Hotel Cork City remains open throughout the refurbishment works, and the positive changes are already proving popular with visitors to the hotel. Further renovations will continue during the year, with the next phase of renovation and upgrading focused on the conference facilities at the hotel.

The Dalata Hotel Group acquired the hotel in October 2016, and rebranded the busy hotel to the Clayton Hotel Cork City with an announcement of a €2 million investment at the property on Lapps Quay, Cork.

Room occupancy rates at the hotel are one of the highest in the Region, which currently employs 170 people at the busy city centre location.

Commenting on the upgrade, General Manager at the Clayton Hotel Cork City, Conor O’Toole said, "We have a great team and thanks to our parent group, we are in a position now to invest significantly to drive standards here even higher to ensure our place as the market leader in Cork for accommodation, dining, leisure club, conferencing and meetings. The new Globe Restaurant & Bar will be a great addition to the hotel and we look forward to welcoming diners throughout the day every day."
