IT multinational, Dell EMC hosted an ‘Internet of Things (IoT) masterclass’ at its Cork Centre of Excellence for visiting Belfast start-ups as part of the company’s partnership with Entrepreneurial Spark, the UK’s largest free business accelerator programme for early stage and growing businesses, powered by Ulster Bank in Northern Ireland.

Dell EMC is a major innovator in IoT technology with two specialist IoT teams in Cork and Limerick.

In June 2015, Dell EMC, in partnership with Vodafone and Cork Institute of Technology, launched INFINITE, a state-of-the-art innovation platform that allows companies to develop and test IoT applications.

Ten early-stage tech start-ups, representing a broad cross-section of industries, including solar energy, food safety and retail, yesterday joined a roundtable discussion with Dell EMC’s IoT specialists to learn more about the role of IoT platforms, like INFINITE, in designing, testing and scaling IoT products and services for businesses and consumers. The group also discussed working with international customers and how to successfully break into international markets.

CTO Ireland COE and Senior Director of Research Europe at Dell EMC, Donagh Buckley said, "The Internet of Things is the next industrial revolution and will fundamentally change the way we interact with the world around us."

He added, "By investing in this technology, and exploring new ways of utilising it, Ireland can play a leading role on the international stage. Dell EMC is proud to partner with the Entrepreneurial Spark business accelerator and support the next generation of technology start-ups."
