The world’s leading cyber security experts, hackers and cyber-strategists will converge on Dublin City University today for the European Cyber Threat Summit. The day-long summit is the largest event of its kind in Europe and will include security specialists, law enforcement, military and hackers.

The European Cyber Threat Summit is organised by Cyber Risk International, the Irish cyber-security and data protection firm. Among the guests at today's event are Edward Snowden - former CIA operative and whistle-blower, Steven Wilson - Head of Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre, Ira Winkler - a leading global expert in cyber-espionage and London cyber-fraudster - Tony Sales.

The conference will explore how both cyber security and business can work together to mitigate risks and improve safety without compromising efficiency. It will also feature a ‘hackathon’ session by a globally renowned team of hackers from Hungary.

The final session of the day will be a talk by Edward Snowden on the geopolitical nature of hacking by nation states followed by a no holds barred interview hosted by Paul C. Dwyer. Edward Snowden’s explosive NSA (National Security Agency) leaks in 2013 have changed the way the cyber security world works today. Unable to return to the US, Snowden will be speaking to the summit via video link from Russia.

Speaking this week, CEO of Cyber Risk International, Paul C Dwyer said, "As an ex CIA operative, we believe Edward has a unique perspective on how Ireland is being surveilled by other nation states. It is an honour and a major coups to have Edward speak to the Summit. We have come under intense pressure for inviting him to speak, which just serves to underline the importance of what he has to say."
