The State Street Advanced Technology Centre Lab was officially opened in University College Cork (UCC) last week by Eoghan Murphy T.D., Minister of State with Responsibility for International Financial Services.

The Lab will initially focus on emerging technologies and how they impact on the financial services industry. It builds on State Street’s long-standing relationship with UCC and further strengthens the role of R&D in the financial services area.

The Advanced Technology Centre Lab houses ten research Masters students with the capacity to expand to 20 in the future. The research is focused on key areas including blockchain and investor behaviour.

State Street has almost doubled its Irish workforce in the past decade and employs more than 2,500 people in Dublin, Naas, Drogheda and Kilkenny.

The Worldwide financial services holding company are Ireland’s largest provider of fund administration services across both domiciled and non-domiciled funds.

In September, State Street celebrated the 20th anniversary of the company’s arrival in the Irish market.
