The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar joined a group of graduates from the Ringsend, Irishtown and Pearse Street area last Thursday to celebrate their graduation from a number of skills training programmes provided by the Google Employment Task Force.
Employment Task force
Google and Google.org have funded a number of local skills projects identified and developed by the Employment Task force.
These include the Irish Nautical Trust, St Andrews Resource Centre, Ringsend Community Services Forum, the Anchorage Project, as well as providing Google Career certificates and key mentoring support to the local community.
Sustainable Employment Solutions
Launched in 2021, Google’s Employment Task Force aims to find sustainable employment solutions for long-term unemployed people from the south inner city and provide training and development opportunities.
Attendees at Thursday’s event had the opportunity to hear from community representatives and participants in the current Employment Task force programmes.
'Positive Impact'
Speaking at the graduation event, the Taoiseach said, “Congratulations to today's recipients on the hard work and commitment that has led to them to achieving their qualification. Google's commitment to such an important initiative and its help in creating local employment opportunities has had a really positive impact on the local community.”
