Irish designer Orla Kiely has decided to close her retail and online businesses, with her stores in Kildare Village, and London's Covent Garden and King's Road to shut.

A statement posted to her website read: “Kiely Rowan plc, the retail and wholesale fashion business of Orla Kiely, has ceased trading as of Monday 17 September 2018.”

The company added that although retail and online businesses have ceased trading, the Orla Kiely's Home and Design licensing business will not be impacted, and its selection of accessories and homewares will continue to be sold through its distribution partners.

The designer was noted for her handbags and household merchandise, and has dressed many high-profile people, including the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton and actress Keira Knightley.
