Dublin today hosted over 90 global healthcare leaders last week for the HealthXL Global Gathering – an initiative aimed at identifying the most innovative solutions in digital health.

The event was focused on discovering technological solutions to major challenges in the areas of clinical trials, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and heart failure, the half-day event saw nine international digital health companies pitch their solutions to panels comprised of specialist VCs, clinicians and healthcare business leaders for the title of HealthXL Select. US company, Vital Connect, was awarded the accolade at the event which was hosted by EY at their Dublin offices on Friday 27 February.

At the event, HealthXL’s new partnership with the Hermitage Medical Clinic was announced.

Aidan Meagher, EY Partner and Head of Life Sciences said: "The digital health industry has experienced significant investment recently, raising US$27.3bn between July 2013 and June 2014 alone - the second-highest capital raise since 2008. With the continued appetite for early-stage companies among pharma companies, larger biotech firms and investors alike, HealthXL and their group of partners are increasing the speed at which existing digital health technologies can begin to have a meaningful impact on health outcomes.

As a HealthXL partner, we were delighted to host the Global Gathering in our Dublin offices and look forward to continuing our role in identifying the next revolutionary idea in digital health."
