Penneys unveiled a newly renovated store in Sligo today. The new store will create 17 new jobs, bringing its total staff number to 103.

A Penneys spokesperson said, "This store has a long history in Sligo and has been a favourite shopping destination for fashion-lovers for 33 years.

We are delighted to mark this milestone with the unveiling of our new refurbishment which has an ultra-modern design and will give our customers a unique shopping experience. The renovation has had a significant local impact with the addition of 17 new jobs."

Penneys currently has 288 stores across nine countries including 37 in Ireland. A further two new stores will open shortly – Hasselt, Belgium and Graz, Austria.

Primark will open its first store in the USA in Boston this September. Seven further stores are scheduled to open in the North East of the USA.
