It was announced last week that Lightsource Renewable Energy has appointed Barry Wadding as Business Development Manager for the Republic of Ireland.

Barry joins Lightsource with over 10 years’ experience working within Project Management in the Renewable Energy sector. His most recent appointment was as a Commercial Specialist with Bord na Móna. Prior to this, he worked with Scottish Power, where he was involved in developing over 350MW of renewable energy projects in Scotland, most notably the 290MW Kilgallioch wind farm.  Barry holds a BSc (Hons) in Real Estate (Valuation and Management) from the University of West England.

As Business Development Manager, Barry will be responsible for managing the development of Lightsource’s business in the Republic of Ireland. This will involve developing Lightsource’s existing portfolio of solar projects, as well as identifying new opportunities for solar farms and ‘private wire’ projects. Lightsource has plans to build up to 400 Megawatts (MW) of solar generation capacity in Ireland.

Commenting on the new appointment, CEO of Lightsource Renewable Energy, Nick Boyle said, "We are delighted to welcome Barry to the Lightsource team in Ireland. His position is a pivotal one for Lightsource, given the strategy that we have to grow our Irish business in the years ahead."
