Social media and SEO interact heavily and are all part of the marketing mix. Her are some tips to get it right.

1. Use keywords when creating your social media campaign

It is no secret that one of the main aspects of SEO is keywords. So, it is also wise to use keywords when you're doing social media marketing in order to target your particular audience. The very first thing that you should do is figure out the main themes that are important in your social media campaigns. It is best to look at your editorial calendar and then use that to identify particular keywords. If that doesn't work, then you should consider your followers and the kind of content they want and are invested in. Consider the particular phrases and keywords that people are using when they are searching on various social media platforms.

2. Your blog should drive your SEO and social media

When it comes to link building, your blog is certainly a great resource for that. Whenever your site and social media pages have a lot of activity, the search engine algorithm views this positively. There is a huge link between social media and SEO ranking. Basically, to understand this, you should understand that when you have fantastic content that is high quality, this drives your social media activity and it is also exactly what search engines want. So, make sure to fully utilize your blog in order to improve your rankings as well as improve your social media engagement. Some of the things you can do include:

Regularly post high quality content on your social media profiles and that content should also contain the right keywords that are well optimized according to current SEO practices. Then buy some Instagram comments and interaction and watch it fly.

All of your content should be adjusted according to the social media channel it is being posted on. For example, the way you would post content on Twitter would be quite different than how you'd post it on Instagram. Additionally, keep in mind the number of times that you can share content over a particular time frame.

Next, always make lots of internal links within each blog post. Every visitor to your website should be able to easily move through your site and navigate it. You should also develop good relationships with other blogs and websites within your industry and land lots of good links. Lastly, all of the links that you share on your social media pages should quickly send anyone that clicks on them to the correct landing pages according to your strategy.

3. Get attention on social media when the trend is high

In order to get the most attention in the form of clicks, likes and visits to your website, you need to get social media attention when the wave is near to the peak. If you don't properly time it, then your content will be easily lost. You should use tools such as Trendsmap, TrendSpottr etc in order to find out when a particular topic is trending so that you you can make full use of it. You should also use other software such as Radian6, Nimble, BrandWatch etc which help you to find out what your audience is interested in and currently talking about. This is much better than simply trying to guess what is hot. Once you actually know what is trending with your audience, you can create the best content.

4. Social media should be properly integrated into your business's website

You should definitely have social media sharing tools embedded throughout your website. This is important so that your visitors can easily share and access your social media no matter where they are on your site. This will also work to improve your website's SEO. Some of items on your social media checklist should include:

- Ensuring your website's home page has your social media badges

- Your e-newsletters should all have social media share buttons

- The sidebars of your website should have social media widgets that are customized

- Each blog post should have social media buttons for people to share them

- Use plugins or Discus so that people can comment

- All of your social media profiles should include links to your other social media pages

- If you have website contributors, use Google Authorship

5. SEO keywords and social media should be well aligned

You should look at your SEO keywords and your social keywords and cross check them. Once there are duplicate keywords, make sure and use them on your marketing channels. This means using them on your company's LinkedIn page, Facebook page, press releases and more. When you do this, it will significantly strengthen your outreach. You should not just use these keywords across your social media pages but also in the social media content that you share regularly. For example, when you create new posts on your social media pages, you should also use the keywords. These keywords should also be used on new content such as infographics, blog posts, white papers, tweets, Pinterest captions, posts on

Facebook and more. A good example of this is if you've just created a new blog post that is all about tracking the newest Twitter trends, make sure that you use an appropriate keyword such as "twitter trends" whenever you share that post. This can be on Google+, Facebook etc. You should use this keyword and other related keyword whenever you promote and share your new post.
