It was announced this week that the first Freshly Chopped outlet in Cyprus has been opened, as the company begins its expansion across Europe.

Chopped will open its first Cypriot outlet in the capital of Nicosia, close to a busy business district. The healthy fast food company will trial three Cypriot franchises over the next 12 months before committing to selling a master franchise.

Freshly Chopped was developed in 2012, by Irish entrepreneurs Brian Lee and Andy Chen, to meet the needs of the growing number of consumers who want a great tasting meal that is healthy, delicious and fresh. It now has 40 outlets across the island of Ireland.

Freshly Chopped aims to offer a ‘create your own salad’ experience in front of the customer in minimum time. Crisp lettuce selections, garden fresh vegetables, salad dressings, and more than 90 ingredients are ‘chopped’ and freshly dressed into a salad bowl or in a sealed savoury wrap. Full calories are counted for each salad, wrap and sandwich and Freshly Chopped offers a delivery, collection, take-away and dine-in service, with fast meal service times. The new restaurant in Cyprus will join the 42 existing Freshly Chopped outlets across the island of Ireland.

Speaking at the announcement in Nicosia, Brian Lee, Co-founder and CEO of Freshly Chopped commented, "We are confident Cyprus is the perfect place to fuel our expansion across Europe, as healthy eating is ingrained in Cypriot culture. Our new Freshly Chopped location will serve a wide variety of customers from commercial and retail workers to the thousands of tourists who flock to Cyprus’ beautiful shores every year. We’re proud that we have proven the concept in Ireland and built a loyal following from our customers. Our first outlet in Cyprus marks a significant step in our journey and we are confident that it will prove as popular with Cypriots as it has done with the Irish."
