Senior management of the Insolvency Service of Ireland (ISI) have been invited to appear before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality. It is hoped the meeting will contribute to the growing debate around how the insolvency legislation can be strengthened.

Committee Chairman David Stanton said, "The mission of the ISI is to help restore people who are insolvent to solvency in a fair, transparent and equitable way. They have been playing an important role in ensuring insolvency cases are resolved in a timely and cost-effective fashion without recourse to the court system.

We look forward to engagement with Lorcan O’Connor and senior colleagues, during which we will examine trends in the ISI’s caseload and progress towards solutions for those who have entered into insolvency since the new legislation was introduced in 2012. The engagement will allow the Committee assess the extent to which the current legislative regime is working and where improvements might be made."
