The Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation will meet today at Leinster House.

The Committee will resume its discussion of the likely economic impact of Brexit, with particular emphasis on jobs and enterprise and the steps being taken to mitigate these risks.

Representatives from the Centre for Cross Border Studies, the Institute of International and European Affairs, the Economic and Social Research Institute, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, the Nevin Economic Research Institute and the Irish National Organisation for the Unemployed will be in attendance.

Speaking yesterday, Committee Chair, Mary Butler said, "Over the coming weeks, as our Committee examines the potential impact Brexit could have on jobs, we will hear from a number of different stakeholder groups."

She added, "Tomorrow’s meeting will see us continue our examination of how we can mitigate any negative effect the UK departure from the EU might have. As a Committee, we are mindful of the decrease in the value of sterling and how that might impact Irish exports to the UK market."
