One fifth (22%) of Irish people spend between 1 and 3 hours on social media every day and amongst this, the number increases to 1 in 4 amongst women compared to just 1 in 5 amongst men.

This is according to new research carried out on behalf of Liberty Insurance by Millward Brown which has revealed exactly how much time we spend on our gadgets each day and their proliferation into our daily lives.

The research shows 64% of 17-29 year olds feel panicked, desperate or sick if they leave their phone at home compared with just 31% of 55+ year olds.

On average 25 minutes per day is spent on gaming using a mobile phone and Irish adults spend on average 31 minutes on calls a day from their mobile

Director of Personal Lines at Liberty Insurance, Deirdre Ashe says, "These research findings show just how important gadgets are to us and demonstrate the need for gadget insurance not just amongst the younger age groups but also the older demographics who rely on their mobile phones for calls and texting. These gadgets don’t come cheap which is even more of a reason to make sure you’re covered with gadget insurance."
