A new poll released today at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA) Annual Conference has found that Irish people remain overwhelmingly in support of EU membership.

According to the poll, conducted by Amárach Research, 77% of Irish people favour remaining in the EU, virtually unchanged from similar research conducted the day after the vote. Forty five percent believe the Government should boost spending to offset Brexit.

The most pressing concerns identified by members are disruption to export routes (20%), disruption to supply chains (21%), EU Instability (19%) and increased tariffs (16%).

Speaking at the Conference, CPA President, Deirdre Kiely said, "Much of the attention to date has been focussed on the negotiations in Brussels. However what is needed for Ireland is a concentration on the aspects that are under our control. Top of this list must be our competitiveness. In a recent survey of our 5,000 members 60% of those who responded felt that Ireland’s was less competitive than a year ago."
