The latest monthly unemployment statistics from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) show that there was a seasonally-adjusted total out of work of 205,300 in September, down from 206,100 in August and 233,400 in September 2014.

Male unemployment was at 10.5% while female unemployment was measured at 8.1%. Youth unemployment decreased to 20.6%

Ireland’s jobless rate compares with a Eurozone average of 10.9%.

According to Merrion Stockbrokers, "With the Irish economy continuing to grow strongly in 2015, an average jobless rate of 9.6% is envisaged for this year down from 11.3% in 2014.

"We now think the figure at year-end based on these latest CSO data will be around the 9.2% level, and falling below the 9.0% mark in 2016."
